Lundgren Associates focuses it services on Dirt Road companies. The definitions of
the different phases of an early-stage company are:
Jungle - early product development ending with a product, some
customers and some revenue; plus the first round of institutional venture
capital.
Dirt Road - post Jungle and before the Highway. You clearly know
where you are going, but it is a bit bumpy.
Highway – becoming public and being public
We will work for Jungle companies when it makes sense for
the client and us. We will also assist companies going public and the early
stage of being public.
IT’s success is a double edge
sword for the pre public companies and thus for venture capital firms. On one
edge, IT has become 50% of the customer’s capital budget and they have also
begun to realize the importance of IT to everything in the company. On the
other edge, the customers have changed their buying behavior. The decisions have been pushed up to senior
Financial and Line of Business Executives. IT now has to compete with
all the other projects in the company for capital dollars and expense dollars.
Thus, IT will be required to provide a “Hard” Business Case and to verify they
“Delivered the Value” they promised, as do all projects in a large company.
This is not just a reaction
to the current economic environment, this
is a permanent change is how large companies approach IT
The White Paper, Sea Change in IT, focuses on the impact
these changes will have on Silicon Valley pre-public companies. These
